Those boys and girls who bring themselves to the peaks of skill and fitness, bring joy to millions from their endeavours and their sacrifices. Diamond League Athletics, the Olympic Games, the World Cups, International Rugby tournaments, Tennis, Golf and all the rest.
When they are faced with an organisation that fails to maintain the same levels of Integrity as themselves, they are dishonoured. But the dishonour is not theirs, so much as belonging to those who compromise others for the sake of money and personal advancement.
I don’t like to be critical of others, for any reason. I appreciate that I am not in their positions, but similarly it would seem they do not appreciate the situation of those athletes who drive themselves to attain to these highest levels of endeavour, only to be hamstrung by the very organisations that are meant to serve them and their well-being. Not to mention the audiences that witness these things.
Money might reply – we give them splendid arenas in which to perform. I can only say the Romans built glamorous stadia for the gladiators to fall in. I reiterate here that the Temples of Mammon and Solomon hold different perspectives on the world, and it is here that the difference shows itself most markedly.
No, I cannot find a way to excuse those who create and/or buy into corrupt systems to suit themselves, and thereby render the efforts of others futile.
It will be recalled that it was Herakles who introduced the Olympic Games to mainland Greece from Crete and Minos. Would He feel honoured by corrupt officials greasing the palms of parties who, wanting to pursue careers in their chosen sports, are bound and shackled by those whose only investment is financial? And who reap the benefits of the very stadia they claim to have built for participants and audiences.
Appalling.
I write all this to share with you who are so remote from need to understand what the effect is on the lives of others and – by the simple laws of reciprocity – your own lives. I would gladly choose a less public manner to address these issues with you, but for the moment this is all I have. I have a friend who on one occasion advised another friend and I to invest £10K into a particular company that, he averred, would increase in value over the coming years. Neither my friend nor I had two farthings to rub together. The invitation was made in good faith, simply the understanding was not there having lived in privilege all is life. This is the remoteness I mean.
Please accept this as an abject apology for feeling drawn to mention the poverty of expression that is shown through these compromises which, despite being seen widely by others, so often go by without comment. As if it is the ‘accepted way of the World’.
I repeat we are in a New Era in the Life of Humanity. An era in which Dharma is re-enforced and imperative on the Earth as we restore this world to the Galactic fraternity from which we stepped down – not so say fell – such a little time ago.
