Reflections on England versus Spain

When used to working in heat, the body becomes lean and at ease.

When introduced to heat, initially the body relaxes and releases tiredness. It slumbers.

This was so apparent in the match between Spain’s women playing the England team. The English bodies were sluggish from lack of endurance in the unaccustomed warmth. They were still in ‘cozy’ mode.

Not so Spain. It was so apparent the Spanish team not simply played better, but were lithe and ready to spring at every chance. This was not mere superiority. It was the result of bodies used to playing in the heat and those (of the English) just relaxing after the intemperate weather of Britain.

The result did not reflect the competence of the England girls but simply the result of weather conditions.
